Sous la Velle is located 380m above sea level, just next to Sous Roche. The wine has good minerality and pure fruit. Frédéric et Laure Cossard have specially bottled this cuvée only in magnum. In fact, we purchased this cuvée six years ago, but we have never sold it while it has been cellared in Burgundy, making this its first release.

It is made from Pinot Noir sourced from a tiny parcel in Saint-Romain that is the home ground of Frédéric and Laure Cossard. Characterized by floral notes and lovely red berries, the wine is extremely pure, lively, and silky, which embodies the full style we appreciate from Frédéric and Laure Cossard. While it has been delicious since the beginning, the wine has now reached its peak.

Paiagallo is Giovanni Canonica's original vineyard. Gianni produces stunning Barolo from this vineyard. All practices are traditional and natural in the vineyards and cellar. The vineyard is totally free from herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. The wine undergoes 40 days of maceration, using only indigenous yeasts without any additives, is pressed vertically, and is then aged in 20hl Slavonian oak barrels.

It has perhaps turned into a slightly more elegant and feminine wine than I anticipated, less bullish than the Hosanna. Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2015 D'Armailhac displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color and exuberant notions of exotic spices and potpourri over a core of black and red cherry preserves plus wild blueberries and a waft of tar. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals mouth-filling, juicy black berry flavors with approachable, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness on the finish. RP92
