The main grape of the region is Chardonnay (Melon d'Arbois). Chardonnay covers 50% of vineyards area. This grape varietal has great flexibility that is able to fit any type of soils and climates. That is the reason why Chardonnay is planted all over the world. In Jura, Chardonnay has been planted since 10th century, so it is already naturalised.
