Château Bélair-Monange was born from the fusion of the vineyards of Châteaux Bélair and Magdelaine, both historic First Classified Growths of Saint-Émilion.

Tracing its origins back to Roman times, the vineyard of Château Bélair is situated at the highest point of Saint-Émilion’s famed limestone plateau. Château Magdelaine, a contiguous cru acquired in 1952, has always been renowned for the remarkable elegance of its wines. Château Bélair-Monange expresses the unique style of the greatest parcels of these two complementary terroirs. An important restructuring of the vineyard was initiated in 2008 immediately following the acquisition of the estate by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix.

HAUT ROC BLANQUANT is named after a historic parcel of the vineyard of Bélair-Monange. The name translates literally to “High White Rock,” underscoring the vineyard’s geology. Released in very limited quantities since the 2014 vintage, HAUT ROC BLANQUANT is produced from a selection of grapes offering charm, elegance, and approachability from a young age. Supple, bright, and inviting, HAUT ROC BLANQUANT channels the refinement of its privileged terroir coupled with an enticing, youthful, fruit-forward vibrancy.

The soil is composed by limestone on the plateau and clay on limestone in the slopes. 90% of vineyard is dominated by Merlot and 10% by Cabernet-Francs. Average 25 years old vines. Harvest manually, grapes are selected carefully by double sorting(manual and optical). Gentle and controlled maceration & extraction in the callar, 16 months in French oak barrels (30% new).
